As I’m typing this, I’m at my old stomping grounds and I can’t help but think of all the wonderful memories I’ve had here. That chapter was a while back (I don’t want to admit how long ago ha!), but at the same time, it doesn’t seem so long ago either! Does anyone feel that way about college too??
I was just as much in love with makeup and hair as I am today, but my budget was totally limited as a college student. I didn’t have a car the first two years either, so I really relied on my parents to send me care packages and my bare beauty necessities — and that included shampoo and conditioner! I remember giving a list to my mom and always asking her to send me Garnier Fructis Hair because it smelled good, it lasted long and it made my hair feel so soft! Fast forward over 10 years later and Garnier continues to be a brand I reach for at the drugstore. Their Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water and Garnier Rose Water Mist Spray are two of my newest Garnier faves and if you take a look in my shower, you’re always going to find at least one Garnier products in there!
There are so many haircare options at the drugstore, so how do I know which to choose?
Haircare Needs
Like many women who have bleached or damaged hair, keeping my hair healthy is the top priority for me so I first look for a line that is going to treat my dry or damaged hair. However, because my hair gets oily fast, I have to be careful when choosing a line that’s moisturizing enough without being too heavy. If it is, it’ll weigh down my long hair and make my hair oily too fast. So finding that sweet spot is necessary!
Cocktail your shampoo and conditioner
Once I narrow down the haircare line — from Garnier Fructis Hair, it’s Moisture Lock, Pure Clean, and occasionally Triple Nutrition or Anti-Frizz — I will mix and match it!
Depending on how my hair feels that day or what look I’m going for, I like to cocktail my shampoo and conditioner so that it fits my needs even more. For example, if my hair looks really oily but my ends are dry, I will choose the Pure Clean Shampoo and then use a deep conditioner from the mid-shaft to the ends. If I want to wear my hair straight, I’ll use the Sleek & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner so that my strands look as sleek as possible.
Check the ingredients
More people are becoming conscious about the ingredients found in cosmetic products and I think it’s important to do your own research. Their products contain natural active ingredients with eco-friendlier packaging, so I feel good using it knowing that Garnier is contributing to better sustainability in the beauty industry. With your research, you can determine which ingredients are important for you. Read more tips and tricks from Garnier on how to beauty responsibly this season and all year long here.
